Banff National Park, which includes Lake Louise, has over 1,600 kms (1,000 miles) of trails to choose from and is the busiest National Park in the area.

 

With its sparkling turquoise lakes, rugged peaks and magnificent glaciers, hiking here is sure to leave you feeling inspired.  Due to its variety of trails and rewarding views Lake Louise, Moraine Lake and the surrounding area is often called “The Hiking Capital of Canada.”

1) Larch Valley/Minnestimma Lakes

     Availability July 1 - September 31, 2019

     Moderate Difficulty ( 6 hours - 11.6km)

     Elevation Gain 535m

Hike through a unique Larch forest high above Moraine Lake and enjoy breathtaking views of the "Ten Peaks".

1) Plain of Six Glaciers

    Availability July 1 - September 31, 2019

    Moderate Difficulty (5 hours - 10.6km)

    Elevation Gain 365m

A signature hike at Lake Louise! This trail takes you to impressive vistas of 6 glaciers surrounded by the peaks that made Lake Louise famous. Have a lunch break next to the historic Plain of Six Glaciers Teahouse built by the Swiss guides almost a hundred years ago.

2) Taylor Lake        

    Availability July 1 - September 31, 2019

    Advanced Difficulty ( 5 hours - 12.6km)

    Elevation Gain 585m

Thick forest gives way to subalpine meadows as you climb steadily to this classic glacial lake. This trail holds its snow through the early part of the hiking season, so it’s best from July on.

3) Sentinel Pass 

     Availability July 1 - September 21, 2019

     Advanced Difficulty ( 7 hours - 11.6km)

     Elevation gain 725m

Steep hike to beautiful alpine lakes, wildflowers, and in the fall stunning golden larch trees.

 

Note: This hike can be combined with Paradise valley for an even longer day hike that explores the Lake Louise Valley in full. This addition is only for those in good physical condition and a vehicle shuttle is required.  

 ​​

Cost: $175 per person (Children 12 and under - $99 per person)

          Single Person: $300 per day
