Please call or email to book your guided trip with us in the Canadian Rockies, and we will happily guide you through any specific questions and concerns you may have. We encourage you to contact us as early as possible (ideally more than three months prior) so that we can determine the best hike and areas to explore based on your ability and time frame.
Waivers: There is an element of risk to all mountain activities that is beyond our control. We will require you to sign a liability waiver prior to participating in one of our guided trips. A waiver will be required to be signed by all participants on the guided hike on the day of the trip. Participants under the age 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Payment: All trips require full payment at the time of booking. All payments must be received in Canadian Dollars. Payment is accepted via Cash, Visa, MasterCard, Cheque, and Email money transfer.
Tax: All bookings will be subject to an additional 5% GST tax.
Transportation: We do not provide transportation to any of the trail heads. You are responsible for arriving at the trailhead on time. You will need a vehicle to get to the trailhead.
Cancellation Policy: We hope you don't have to, but if you need to cancel or change your reservation for any reason, you must give us 48 hours notice by phone call or email. Cancellations less than 48 hours in advance will not receive a refund however, we would be happy to schedule you for another trip within 1 year. Cancellations prior to 48 hours before departure are 100% refundable. A no call, no show will be charged the full amount of the trip, no refunds.
Please Note: There is no partial refund for starting a tour late or leaving a trip early.
Itinerary Change: At times the weather and conditions in the mountains is unpredictable, and guided trips may need to be revised depending on conditions (e.g. flooding, wildfires, closures for wildlife). If the original itinerary is no longer possible, Self Propelled Adventures reserves the right to revise the trip to another destination.
Cancelled trip: If Self Propelled Adventures decides a hiking trip must be cancelled for reasons outside our control (e.g. trail closures, fire, health hazard from smoke) and an alternate trip is not possible, you will be given a refund in full, or the option to re-book (within one year). If possible we will try to simply adjust the trip itinerary rather than cancelling a trip. We are not responsible for costs that you incur outside of the trip fees (e.g. pre-booked travel costs such as flights, accommodations, parking, park entry fees etc).
Mountain Weather: Mountain weather is unpredictable and can range from hot and sunny to snowing on any day of the year. As much as we hope your trip occurs in the best weather possible, we cannot make any guarantees. Our trips will go ahead in all weather conditions. We will send you information to help you come prepared, but please be aware that we cannot offer refunds for poor weather.
Physical Fitness: Most hikes require good physical fitness and the ability to walk on steep and uneven mountain terrain. If you have any medical conditions that may affect your ability to walk long distances in mountain terrain please address these concerns prior to booking your trip with us. Each participant is required to fill in a medical information form prior to your trip departure.
